Benefit Concert - 24th September

Things are coming together nicely for the trip right now, and some very positive news about funding received today. In addition, the date for our fundraising benefit concert has been confirmed for 24th September in the Main School Hall. The American-themed evening will feature a range of ensembles and soloists, music and dance, and is sure to be a fantastic occasion, and a brilliant way of supporting this exciting opportunity for our students. There are also rumours of some celebrity teacher appearances too, not to be missed...
Tickets are only £5 and all money will go towards the cost of the trip. See Mr Wolfe for more details.

Trip Meeting - 20th August 11am

Just to let everyone know that we'll be holding a brief meeting from 11-12 on 20th August (results day for AS and A2 students!) to talk about a couple of fundraising things, particularly the forthcoming benefit concert, which we need to finalise the line up for. We'll meet in the Post-16 Common Room and take it from there...Get thinking of ideas and bring them to the table - remember we've got the £1000 target to think of here, so they need to be big!

In the Beginning....

Welcome to the Emmanuel-Memphis 2009 Trip blog - we stand a couple of months away from one of the most exciting initiatives the school has ever undertaken as we prepare to travel to Visible School, Memphis for 9 days of musical and cultural exchange. Mr Wolfe and Williams have their passports at the ready (and no you can't see the photos) and the flights are booked. We're going to be there from 10th to 18th October, and it is sure to be amazing, life-changing and inspiring all rolled into one. Attention turns immediately to the September skype co-composition lessons we'll be doing live with US students, and of course the much anticipated benefit gig to send us on our way at the end of September. Stay tuned and watch this space for more updates over the coming weeks.
